Who would have thought we would ever get a LEGO set that can play 10 songs… That’s right. This LEGO Ideas Grand Piano set plays music, with the help of a smartphone. Congratulations, we have finally arrived in the age when pigs can fly.
The HUGE grand piano set dominates the LEGO Ideas line, becoming its largest and most expensive set to date, coming in at 3662 bricks, 12 inches (30.5 cm) wide, 13.5 inches (35.5 cm) deep, and 8.5 inches (22.5 cm) high, weighing almost 4.5 lbs (4.5 kilos), and retailing for US $349.99, CA $449.99, UK £319.99. Released August 1st 2020, the piano quickly proved a bestseller, selling out quickly on lego.com, the official LEGO online shop.
The piano uses the latest Powered UP LEGO app, so you can press any key and hear the corresponding sound. In addition, the piano can play on its own, to the tunes of 10 different songs:
- “Playday” by Donny Chen
- “Prelude in C Major” by Johann S. Bach
- “Passacaille for Piano” by G. F. Handel
- “Moonlight Sonata” by Beethoven
- “Widmung” by Franz Liszt
- “Clair de Lune” by Claude Debussy
- “I Got Rhythm” by George Gershwin
- “Happy Birthday to You”
- “Jingle Bells” by Pierpont
- “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”
We’ve been super hyped about this set for a while now. We even shared a video of the original fan creation on our Instagram page: @brickinspired.
